Going on a Date with My Best Friend

Life has been moving very quickly for me and so this week, I thought I would share a mini life update/food recap🍽️with you. I recently went on a fun, fancy dinner date with my best friend 👭and can’t wait to tell you all about it!

One of my favorite ways to catch up with friends and family is to schedule a lunch or dinner date with them. By schedule, I mean literally book them a month or weeks in advance. As I’ve gotten older, between juggling school, career, and other opportunities, it can get a bit hectic trying to coordinate with everyone else’s schedules.

I recommend booking food dates to everyone. I mean, if you have mutual interests and hobbies then it can be easy to plan fun things based on activities, but if not, food is universal and everyone needs to eat so having a set time to meet up can be a relaxing way to catch up!

The Lunch Date

We went to Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse because they were participating in Restaurant Week. If you aren’t familiar, Restaurant Week is when participating restaurants have a smaller set menu, offering a three course meal for a discounted price. In our case, we were going for a three-course meal for $20 each. YES, you heard me right, just $20!

We both got the lobster bisque with poached lobster, crema, and sherry as an appetizer. It was delicious with a nice savory flavor. Although, the server asked if we wanted pepper on top and we might have overdone it (the amount of pepper I said yes to was yikes). Still, it was yummy!

For the entrees, I ordered the filet mignon (6oz) with chateau mashed potatoes and Lara got the north Atlantic salmon (6oz) with lemon butter sauce and thin green beans. I can only speak for the filet here, but it was delicious although tiny. I love that they kept the potato skins in the mashed potatoes giving it added texture.

Of course, we can’t forget about dessert! I got the cheesecake with strawberry sauce and pecan crust while Lara got the Belgian Chocolate mousse with salted caramel chocolate fudge. In her words, “It was HEAVEN✨”.

I had a great time. We have such amazing (and honestly hilarious) conversations. The food was wonderful, and the ambiance was lovely. I can’t wait for next time’s restaurant week experience!
