Hey loves! I love being productive but sometimes it’s great to just sit, relax, and binge-watch some awesome shows. I’m excited to share with you my top 7 favorite anime of all time. Don’t worry, there’s more than your typical magical girl anime. 😊
Here are some of my personal favorites (not in any order).
Are you a sucker for amazing character development and action? If so, then this one is for you! This anime follows the adventures of a kid named Naruto, who despite his conditions and adversities strives to the leader of his village. At first he might seem like a brat but trust me, pretty soon you’ll be rooting for him too! There are hundreds of episodes, so you won’t be afraid of running out of something to watch. Not to mention, the anime has amazing music which really makes you want to avoid skipping on all the different theme songs. I also recommend the second installment, Naruto Shippuden along with this too.
2. Attack on Titan
If you can’t stand gore, don’t watch this! The plot is apocalyptic and centers on the last of humanity living behind walls to stay safe from giants. As it goes, nothing lasts forever and obviously not the walls. People are trained to fight against the giants, but unexpected surprises appear and secrets are revealed making this anime anything but your typical monster apocalypse.
3. Shokugeki No Soma
This goes out to all my fellow foodies. Love food and can’t get enough of it? Watch this! The lighthearted show follows Soma, the protagonist as he develops his cooking skill. Don’t be fooled – this is action packed with humor, cooking tidbits, and amazing characters. If you hate shows where the main character is just born talented and is randomly the best for no reason – you’re in luck. Sure, the anime has its fair share of food geniuses and talents, but Soma’s skill set is anything but simple talent. With each episode, you’ll find yourself immersed in the world of food wars and super hungry…really hungry.
4. Sailor Moon
Ah, nostalgia hits me when I think of this anime. You have probably heard of this one before, but I just had to include it. This is where you can go to get your dose of 90’s anime goodness – the art is classic 90’s anime style with romance and full on magical girl power. Follow Sailor Moon as she and her fellow sailor scouts save the universe from enemies! If this sounds cheesy – it is and in all the best ways! Love girl power and romance? Check this one out! I recommend the 1992 version but the recent remake is also beautiful and much shorter if you preferred that.
5. Initial D
M (my boyfriend) introduced me to this anime. If you’re a fan of The Grand Tour or are interested in cars, this is a cool anime about street racing. The show is all about the protagonist improving his driving techniques through street racing battles. The characters are lovable and the cars in the show are interesting. Even if you’re not super into cars, this is still a great anime to watch.
This is an adventure, fantasy, and romance anime with elements of time travel. Kagome, the lead, accidentally falls into the past where she meets Inuyasha, a half dog demon. Of course they fall in love <3 (shocker). Together they and their travel companions venture to find all the shards of the Shikon jewel before it falls into the wrong hands. There’s romance, fantasy, and adventure – what’s not to love?
7. Tokyo Ghoul
This anime is not for the faint hearted. It’s a darker genre featuring ghouls that prey on humans. Kaneki, the main dude has a bad date and ends up becoming part ghoul (my attempt at explaining the plot without giving too much away). Ultimately, this anime tugs at your heart strings and you will find yourself wondering if there is a “good” or “bad” side and whether the ghouls are the monsters they initially appear to be.
Have you watched any of these shows before?
